Maryland Governor's Pardon

A Governor's Pardon is not a practical solution. It alienates thousands of people from the workforce. It contributes to unemployment numbers, the number of people seeking public assistance problem and the number of homeless on our streets.

Depending the upon the nature of the offense one must wait up to twenty years to even request a pardon.

Upon release from all incumburances one must wait a length of time to request a Pardon. That length of time varies according to type of offense.

MISDEMEANOR ~ 5 Years

FELONY ~ 10 Years

CDS ~ 15 to 20 Years

THIS IN ADDITION TO THE TIME SERVED AS PUNISHMENT.

If an applicant is fortunate enough to be granted a pardon, the law mandates that the tell-tale information remain in public view for another five years before the record can be expunged. In Maryland only the Governor has the power to issue a pardon.

Clean Slate America, LLC asks, 'Why can't a panel be formed to review

Pardon Applications on a continuing basis'?

All to often Governors only periodically review Pardon Applications or when facing re-election and is interested in showing a 'good face' to the voters or is attempting to absolve the mistakes of friends before leaving office.
